A Lake-View Retreat Worth Every Shilling
If you’re searching for hotels in Naivasha that trade city noise for birdsong and lake breezes, Naivasha West Beach Camp deserves serious consideration. Nestled along the western shores of Lake Naivasha, this camp-style property appeals most to nature lovers, weekend escapers from Nairobi, and couples seeking a peaceful retreat without sacrificing comfort. It’s less a conventional hotel, more an immersive lakeside experience.
Location & Accessibility
The property sits roughly 8–10 kilometres from Naivasha town centre, accessible via the South Lake Road — a scenic but occasionally rough stretch that rewards patience. Visitors arriving from Nairobi along the A104 highway will find the journey takes approximately 90 minutes under normal traffic. Nearby landmarks include Crescent Island, Hell’s Gate National Park, and the Oserian Wildlife Sanctuary, making this an ideal base for wildlife-focused itineraries.
For Business Travellers
This isn’t a corporate hotel. Wi-Fi connectivity can be inconsistent — a recurring observation across multiple guest reviews — so remote workers should carry backup data. That said, the peaceful environment suits executives seeking an offsite retreat or strategy session away from the boardroom.
For Leisure Travellers
This is where the camp truly shines. Guests consistently praise the hippo sightings from the shoreline, sundowner evenings on the lake, and the genuine tranquility. Boating and birdwatching are popular activities, with over 350 bird species recorded around Lake Naivasha.
Food & Service
Reviewers frequently highlight warm, attentive staff as a standout quality. The camp’s lakeside dining earns consistent praise, with fresh tilapia mentioned repeatedly as the must-order dish.
Travel tip: Book weekend stays well in advance — the camp fills quickly between Friday and Sunday.
Local hack: Arrive before sunset to catch hippos grazing onshore.
Money-saving tip: Midweek rates are noticeably lower and the camp is quieter.
Booking tip: Request a lakeside-facing tent or bandas — guests who don’t specify sometimes receive interior accommodation.
Pros & Cons
The camp’s greatest strength is its authentic lakeside atmosphere, which genuinely differentiates it from standard Naivasha hotels. Service warmth and wildlife access are reliable highlights. On the downside, the road access can be challenging during heavy rains, Wi-Fi reliability remains an honest limitation, and travellers expecting hotel-standard amenities may find the rustic style requires some adjustment.

It was amazing and I’ll book it again soon, Every thing was perfect except the water of bathroom was little hot.
We have stayed here many times here . Excellent service with a great restaurant on site. Funky hotel and the bungalows are more suited for large families.
