Sarova Lion Hill Game Lodge
The Sarova Lion Hill Lodge is located inside Lake Nakuru National Park, nestled on a hill to provide beautiful panoramic views of the flamingo filled Lake Nakuru. The lodge is surrounded by acacia trees and greenery that attracts many species of birds in its vicinity. The lodge is only one of two located inside the park that not only boasts thousands of flamingos on the lake’s shores but also houses the endangered black rhino, buffalo and antelopes.
Accommodation at Sarova Lionhill
Accommodation is in 67 luxury chalets all equipped with modern amenities. 64 of the chalets are standard rooms while 3 are suites. Each chalet opens to a patio overlooking the lake, ensuite bathrooms with showers and tea making facilities. Of the three suites one is presidential and also ideal for honeymooners. The other two suites are beautifully furnished and equipped with fireplaces.
Ziwa meaning “lake” in Swahili, is the lodge’s presidential suite. The suite is situated in an isolated location, ideal for honeymooners who want that required privacy.
Chui Suite & Faru Suite
Chui and Faru are Swahili names meaning “leopard” and “rhino” respectively. The 2 bedroom suites that are adjacent to each other are tastefully furnished with a fireplace and characterised by a lodge feel.
The 64 standard rooms are cozy and all have a panoramic view of the lake. There is an option of single, double or triple with some rooms having a day bed.
Dining at Sarova Lionhill
The lodge has a couple of dining options. All food is served fresh supported by the lodges vegetable and herb garden. The main restaurant is called Flamingo and has a capacity of 150 people. It serves buffet breakfast, lunch and dinner and also has live cooking counters for special foods. The Rift Valley bar offers spectacular views of sunset and the lake beyond, and is ideal for unwinding after a long day.
There are a couple of other dining options such as champagne breakfast in the wilderness, dining outside on the beautifully manicured lawns or al fresco dining where special requests for meals can be arranged in various areas such as the poolside or the honeymooners corner.
Conferencing at Sarova Lionhill
The Sarova Lionhill is ideal for conferencing and team building activities. The Lodge has two large conference halls fully equipped with all the necessary requirements such as LCD screens, Wi-Fi, TV and DVD. The two halls can hold between 38-100 people in various sitting styles. The large manicured grounds are ideal for team building activities and for groups looking to hold their meetings outside.
Being inside Lake Nakuru National Park the main activity here is game drives. Guests can self drive around the parks well marked roads or hire a guide from the lodge. With over 400 species of birds the other major activity is bird watching. Guests can also walk to the baboon cliff to enjoy stunning panoramic views of the park and lake below. At the lodge guests can enjoy swimming, indoor games such as pool and table tennis, cultural performances and shopping at the curio shops.
