About Nakuru Town

Nakuru is located 160km north west of Nairobi. It is the fourth largest urban town in Kenya. It is located on the Kisumu - Nakuru highway and this makes it a busy stopover for travelers along the highway. It is situated at an altitude of 1859above sea level and within the Great Rift Valley. Nakuru is a Maasai word meaning dusty place.

Lake Nakuru National Park

Menengai Crater

Menengai Crater is located 10 km North of Nakuru Town. The crater is said to be one of the biggest volcanic calderas in the world located in the Great Rift Valley in Kenya.

Lake Elementaita

Lake Elementaita is a small soda lake located at mid-distance between Naivasha and Nakuru, along the Nairobi/Nakuru Highway. There are wonderful viewpoints of the lake from the highway.


Temperatures range from minimum of between 12°C to a maximum of 26°C. Rainfall ranges from 1800mm to 2000mm per annum with the wettest season during April and May.
